Doggie Splash Days: Dog friendly swimming near nyc

In NYC and willing to drive? Go to a Doggie Splash Day!!

“Doggie Splash Days” are when pools or waterparks allow dogs to come for a day or two to enjoy the water before it’s drained. They’re a great way for pups to cool down, socialize, and enjoy the summer before it’s over. There are Doggie Splash Days all over the United States, but here are some near New York City:

Morey’s Piers and Water Park

Morey’s is a collection of piers, shops, and water parks in Wildwood, NJ. Every year, they host not one, but two fun events for dogs: the doggie dash race and a puppy pool party. To go, you need a ticket for each guest and pooch, a release form, and proof of rabies vaccination. A portion of each ticket price is donated to Team Foster, a non-profit that pairs service dogs with veterans.

Knoebels

Knoebels is America’s largest free-admission amusement park. It has rollercoasters, rides, great food, campgrounds, a golf course and a pool. They open their doors one day a year for dogs to enter and join in on the fun. Register your pup for the Doggie Dive, where dogs are free to swim in the Crystal Pool. Enjoy an auction, a bake sale, visits from rescue organizations, food, vendors and more. Make it a trip, and stay at the Knoebels campground with your pooch.

In September, ski resort and waterpark Montage Mountain runs Bark in the Waterpark, a “bring your best friend” day where humans and their dogs are allowed. There are games, giveaways, and doggy vendors. Dogs swim free, and humans swim for $15.

But wait…there’s more! Here are a few other places for your dog to swim near NYC.

Larchmont Doggie Beach

Although it’s not a pool or a waterpark, Larchmont Doggie Beach is still worth a visit. Plus, you can go any time you want during the summer. It has great views, space for sunbathing, and plenty of water to go swimming and splash around. Use street parking or take the train from Grand Central.

Over Rover Training Center

Over Rover is all about dogs! They have agility classes, dog swimming lessons, and even a diving dock for brave dogs willing to take the plunge. Their Splash-O-Rama events happen multiple times a year, where dogs are allowed to swim, splash, and jump off the dock. Any breed, any mix, and any size of dog may participate, but you must register your dog with the North America Diving Dogs organization. You can register same day and on site, or do so online, for a fee of $35.

Martial Arfs

Martial Arfs is a dog training and fitness center on Long Island. They have a heated indoor saltwater pool for dogs that measures 10ft x 18ft. It’s open year round, and comes with an underwater camera system for videos you can share with friends and family. Not only is it a great work out for your pup, but it’s super fun! You can reserve 15 or 30 minute sessions for your pup and purchase them in packages of 6 or 12 sessions. There is a one-time, $50 pool evaluation you must do before buying a package.
