A List of the Least Pet-Friendly Airlines

If you’re flying with your dogs, there are some airlines to avoid. Sadly, not all major airlines roll out the welcome mat for our four-legged friends.

So, which airlines do not allow dogs? We’ve rounded them up, so you can leave them out of your flight search.

The following airlines don’t allow dogs to fly.

AirAsia

AirAsia is a Malaysian low-cost airline that flies to more than 165 destinations spanning 25 countries.

Their standard pet policy is that they do not accept any pets or animals on board their flights.

EasyJet

EasyJet is a low cost British carrier that offers over 820 routes in more than 30 countries. 

They do not allow dogs on their flights, unless they’re registered guide or assistance dogs.

Any service dogs looking to fly on EasyJet must have been trained by an organization that is approved by or affiliated to one of the following:

  • Assistance Dogs International (ADI)
  • Assistance Dogs UK (ADUK)
  • International Guide Dog Federation (IGDF)

Emirates

Emirates is an airline based in Dubai, that flies over 3,600 flights per week to over 150 destinations. They’re the world’s largest international airline, and were named ‘Airline of the Year’ in 2018.

Animals are not permitted in the cabin of Emirates flights, with the exception of falcons (!!) and guide dogs for the blind.

They do, however, accept dogs in cargo.

Fiji Airways

Fiji Airways operates international services from its hubs in Fiji to 13 countries and 23 cities including Australia, New Zealand, Samoa, Solomon Islands (Oceania), the United States, Hong Kong and Singapore.

They do not accept dogs, unless they are trained for the following:

  • to lead the blind.
  • to detect explosives.
  • to assist the deaf.
  • for Search and Rescue.

FlyBe

FlyBe is the largest independent regional airline in Europe. They fly across the UK and the rest of Europe, with over 210 routes across 15 countries.

They do not allow pets in cabin on their flights.

They do accept pets (dogs, cats, and ferrets) in cargo on certain routes, with a fee. 

Jetstar Airways

Jetstar Airways is an Australian low-cost airline.

They don’t allow pets, but do help passengers organize pet travel with other airlines (Qantas Freight or with Jetpets).

Ryanair

Ryanair is an Irish low-cost airline that flies to 37 countries in Europe, Africa (Morocco), and the Middle East (Israel and Jordan).

They don’t allow any pets on flights, except for guide and assistance dogs (and only on certain routes!). 

South African Airways

South African Airways flies to over 40 local and international destinations across Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, South America, and Oceania.

They do not allow dogs to travel in the aircraft cabin.
