Last weekend, we went to Best Friend Animal Society‘s nationwide event Strut Your Mutt here in NYC. Strut Your Mutt is a chance for dogs and their humans to strut their stuff while raising money for homeless animals. We had so much fun!
We arrived early to check-in. We gave in our names, got our t-shirts, and prepared to strut! Security was tight, but we made it through.
The day was jam packed with adoptable dogs, vendors, and lots of outdoor play.
Dogs and dog lovers came out to rep their favorite breeds and join forces with their favorite rescues. Pier 26 never looked so good.[envira-gallery id=”4120″]
Soon it was time to strut!
We gathered at the starting line and headed out. There were pooches of all sizes, breeds, and colors making their way along the Hudson.
Those who couldn’t walk rolled, and those who had no wheels, went on a walk strike.
There were water breaks along the way, so pups could recharge and stay cool.
The most popular stops by far were the treat stations. Each dog was given a healthy amount of snacks and pets to keep them motivated and walking.
When all the strutting was done, the dogs chilled at the pool…
…and hung out with some Instagram pawlebrities!
The after pawty was at the Tribeca Small Dog Run with some off leash play. It had a large fountain, rocks to climb, and free poop bags.
We can’t wait until next year.
