All About #PugsTakePhilly

It’s that time of year again! Time for the fall edition of #PugsTake. This year, the pugs took over the city of brotherly love – Philadelphia! They honored our founding fathers (and mothers, shout out to Abigail Adams) by snacking on cheesesteaks and not peeing on the Liberty Bell. Check out what went down at #PugsTakePhilly and see photos of the action below!

The pugs started off the trip with a history lesson on the Philly Phables Walking Tour. They learned all about Ben Franklin, the start of the Revolutionary War, and first ever United States Post Office (pee-mail!).

When the pugs heard it was a walking tour, they did what any smart dog would do and busted out the baby bjorns and strollers. History is much more enjoyable when learned while sitting.

All that learning really worked up an appetite in the pugs, so they headed to the local watering hole. They munched on fried mac n’ cheese balls and played cornhole while the humans sampled local brews. Delicious!

The next morning morning, the pugs met up at a local dog park. They played, sniffed each others butts, and sat around.

After playtime, it was time to head to the brewery for the main event. There was a raffle to benefit pug rescue, and a costume contest to celebrate Halloween. The pugs bought tickets, bid on some amazing prizes, and ordered truffle fries, before donning their best costumes. First prize was awarded to Frankie Rose and Lola Pearl, who dressed as handmaids pugs. No one does Halloween like a pug!

On the final day of #PugsTakePhilly, the pugs gathered at the famous Rocky Steps. There was time for final sniffs, photo ops, and farewell pug hugs. Someone suggested running up the steps à la Rocky, and all of the pugs had a good laugh. As if!

The pugs raised close to $10,000 for rescue, and all while having fun! The money benefitted SNORT, Pug Rescue of Austin, Bialy’s Wellness Foundation, and Pet ResQ Inc. That’s a lot of dough from the cutest loaves in the dog kingdom.

We can’t wait until the next #PugsTake! What city do you think the pugs will take over next? Sign up for the #PugsTake newsletter to stay in the know.

Here are more photos of the takeover. Enjoy!
